Meet Patrick, Moonwake’s Founder.

Taking on an ambitious technology project is all too often a letdown for mission-driven organizations. That’s why Patrick started Moonwake Technologies.

After nearly two decades building technology platforms inside nonprofit organizations, Patrick created Moonwake Technologies because of his passion for organizations and projects that improve the lives of people and communities across the country. Over the years, Patrick worked alongside nonprofits, community and economic development organizations, philanthropies, and government, and witnessed a pattern. Again and again, he saw well-intentioned organizations invest in a bold technology solution — a new system or application, new infrastructure, digital tools — but end up with something misaligned, overbuilt, or simply unused. The tech worked on paper. But in the real-world context of constrained budgets, complex stakeholder landscapes, and staff stretched thin, it failed to deliver.

The core problem? Most technology consultants don’t truly understand the nonprofit sector. They don’t understand what it means to build consensus across departments, to train up a non-technical team, to earn trust from stakeholders, or to work within the challenging realities of grant funding, compliance, and impact measurement. They focus on the software, not the culture, people, and context that surround it.

Before launching Moonwake, Patrick led technology initiatives that defied the norm. As an innovator, business leader, and product strategist, he raised over $50 million and built a team of mission-oriented technologists that developed a suite of software applications resulting in more than $2 billion invested in small businesses and critical community infrastructure around the country. These tools are used by hundreds of organizations today and have demonstrated the transformative impact that technology enablement can deliver.  These projects weren’t successful because the technology was flashy. They worked because they were built with a deep understanding of needs, alignment with mission, and shared ownership.

With Moonwake Technologies, Patrick brings that philosophy to every engagement. The firm is built around a core belief: technology should serve the mission — not the other way around.

That means:

  • Starting with deep listening and discovery

  • Prioritizing simplicity, sustainability, and capacity-building

  • Co-creating solutions with the people who will actually use them

  • Focusing on outcomes like trust, adoption, and empowerment — not just deliverables

Today, Moonwake Technologies partners with clients across the country who want more than a vendor, they want a thought partner who understands both the technology and the mission. Patrick is a trusted advisor to executive teams, a thoughtful collaborator with frontline staff, and a tireless advocate for using technology as a force for good. Under his leadership, Moonwake Technologies has become a partner of choice for organizations seeking to navigate change with clarity, purpose, and technical confidence.
