Technology Strategy Development for Mission-driven Organizations
Moonwake leverages a phased approach to our technology strategy assessments in order to provide you with more than just a point-in-time assessment and roadmap. We work with you to not only help you establish a current assessment of your needs and capabilities, but we also equip you to be able to constantly self-evaluate as your needs change and capabilities grow. Our approach is one that focuses just as much on education as it does on assessing where your organization is at right now.
Our Approach
-
Phase 1: Organizational Overview
This first phase is all about getting to know your team and your mission. We want to establish a strong picture of how things are running today. This establishes "Point A" on your technology roadmap.
Next, we'll learn all about your dreams and goals for your organization. We know how you're doing things today, now we want to know everything about your ideal future state. This establishes "Point B" on your technology roadmap. At this point we’ll start to move into the weeds to uncover how we get from A to B.
-
Phase 2: Tech Maturity Assessment
In this phase we start to break down the work that actually makes things happen at your organization. We leverage a "Jobs to be Done" approach to building a map of all the key activities, inputs, and outputs required for you to operate effectively.
Every job has a different level of criticality in terms of driving your key outcomes. We work with you to ensure that your level of investment in people, process, and technology, matches the level of criticality for each job. This phase pairs our understanding of your business roadmap from Phase 1 with a more nuanced understanding of which jobs will give you the biggest return on investment in terms of moving you towards your desired future state.
-
Phase 3: Roadmap Implementation
In the final phase of our technology assessment, we take the organizational roadmap and our jobs maps and we work alongside your team to start identifying and implementing improvements to the way work gets done.
It's important to remember that, while we are technologists at heart, improvement here could mean a number of things. It could be making changes to a process itself to make it more efficient or effective. It could be exploring re-alignment of people to an existing process or better calibrating who does each job. Or it could result in the introduction of new technology tools to automate or eliminate certain manual tasks.
We do not expect you to become a technologist or a process improvement expert. We will be right by your side working through these examples and all our materials are built in a way that anyone on your team can use them to continue the virtuous cycle of improvement long after our engagement has ended.
